Test a must for Narine: Dalmiya
Jagmohan Dalmiya on Wednesday made it clear that though the International Cricket Council (ICC) has cleared Sunil Narine, the ace spinner will have to appear for more tests before he can join the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Speaking on the sidelines of a Cricket Association of Bengal programme, felicitating the Bengal Ranji Trophy-winning team of 1989-1990, Dalmiya, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, confirmed that Narine will have to undergo tests at the Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai.
"I have spoken to the KKR officials. He has to appear for the test again. Be it once or twice. He will have to follow the rules," Dalmiya said.
Narine was banned for suspect action during the 2014 Champions League T20 and was barred from playing in the final against Chennai Super Kings that KKR lost.
He was later dropped from the West Indies squad during the tour of India last year, after which he opted out of the World Cup. He was cleared by the ICC after his bio-mechanical test in Loughborough. However, the BCCI had refused to accept the ICC report as final.
